Football Injury Rehab and Prevention
Football is a contact sport with a fairly high risk of injury. Players are at risk during both practice and games, regardless of their skill level. The most common injuries in football are:
- Knee/ankle injuries
- Shoulder injuries
- Bruises and contusions
- Muscle strains
Football injuries range from mild bruising to more severe injuries like concussions. Injuries occur because of the football players’ speed combined with full contact. While players often struggle with overuse injuries, traumatic injuries such as concussions are more common. The amount of force needed to bring an opponent down or avoid being brought down makes football players prone to injury anywhere on their bodies, even with protective gear.
The best way to approach any sports injury, though, is to try and avoid them! A physical therapist can show you proper warm up and cool down routines, identify muscle imbalances, and help you learn how you can correct them. Using proper form goes a long way towards injury prevention.
Physical therapists can guide an injured athlete to full recovery, as well as teach them to prevent injury going forward. If you or your athlete has been injured, our Physical Therapists can get you back in the game with our 1:1 treatment model and custom treatment plans. Contact any of our clinics for a free 15 minute screening and get back on the field.
